Sgraffito
To make a successful sgraffito plate I rolled out a fairly big slab to cover the desired plate size I wanted. My plate size was the smallest one because my design looked best when it was smaller. Before putting the slab on the plate mold I smoothed both sides so they were even and smooth. I then let the plate dry for 1-2 days in a plastic garbage bag. After I have chose my design, I traced it over wax paper but on top of the plate. After the drying process was done, I painted the whole interior with black paint. I then let that dry as well. When that was done, I gently scraped the dry paint away with a sharp tool. When I completely finished my piece, I dipped my whole plate into clear glaze to give it a nice shiny layer.
